The Spirit of Excellence has been infiltrated in the mind of our Pastor, by the “WORD of GOD” and the SPIRIT of HOLINESS.” Many community-based awards mount his walls, such as Honorary Awards from the Government Offices of Senator Thelma Harper, Councilwoman Erica Gilmore, Representative Harold Love, Mayor Randall Hutto, and Mayor Bernie Ash.

Under the leadership of Bishop Matthews, The Promise Keepers Dream Academy was organized in Nashville, TN, spread to Lebanon and has been implanted in many churches across America. Bishop and Lady Matthews along with a team of Church Parishioners began ministering in the Government Public Housing in the Metro Nashville area, picking up children for church, tutoring, feeding, and teaching them the Word of God. He has watched lives be changed in short periods of time. The Dream Academy caters to youth ages 4-18. Many children served in the Dream Academy could not initially read, but after receiving tutoring can now read. Some are now Honor Roll Students. Bishop Matthews motto is “if we show these kids a different world, they will not desire the streets.

As an extension of The Dream Academy Program, we have The Dream Academy Youth Choir, which is made up of over 100 youth. The Choir has had the opportunity to sing at Churches and Conventions across Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana and recently the Billy Graham National Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As a result of the impact made on our Youth and Community, Mayor Randall Hutto of Lebanon, TN, named April 28th “Bishop Fred Matthews Jr. Day” in Wilson County. Of all his accomplishments, Bishop Matthews is most proud of his family. Being born and raised in Chicago, IL, he relocated to Nashville, TN as a graduate student, where he met his wife in church, the lovely Allison Matthews. Together, they are the proud parents of four beautiful daughters, namely, Asya, Alexus, Aliyah, Amariah Matthews.
